Katoey II

I am not sure how many of you caught last night's documentary of ladyboys which gave accounts of ladyboys lives in Thailand. It was quite well done on the 6 segments of ladyboys that they featured. Two were previous winners of Pattaya's well known Tiffany pageant. The past and current winners of the pageant. An additional but short segment of a contestant of the Tiffany pageant from last year who didn't win but made it to top 10. They also featured a successful ladyboy entrepreneur who migrated to NZ. She ran her specialty line of products & designs. Two segments were done on showgirls. One was at the twilight of her showgirl career and one Aunty Nong who was a one time famous showgirl in Bangkok. She's reduced to living in abject poverty.

I learned a lot and felt sad at the same time. The documentary showed the fears of all ladyboys: the fading of one's beauty. The documentary concluded that it the beauty of the ladyboys are undeniable. Most shocking was that most of the ladyboys came from well to do family and hold advance degrees.

It was almost impossible if not difficult for Thai's to change the gender on their ID after SRS.
